Civitavecchia – Colorectal and breast cancer screenings kick off

The city administration announces that the RmF Local Health Authority has launched a screening program for colorectal cancer. The initiative, which is completely free of charge, follows national and regional guidelines and is intended for people between the ages of 50 and 74.

Screening is divided into different levels of activity. The first consists of performing fecal occult blood testing through the distribution of a kit that is done by the vaccination service staff at the Asl office in Piazzale del Verrocchio.

The next level is reserved for people whose test has shown the presence of blood in the stool and consists of a colonoscopy under sedation that will be performed by specialists from the UOSD of digestive endoscopy at St. Paul's Hospital in Civitavecchia.

Also, the new screening program for breast cancer is about to begin. The initiative, which is completely free of charge, is aimed at women between the ages of 50 and 69. The examination will be performed via a mobile vehicle equipped with digital instrumentation that will be located at the Outpatient Clinic on Aurelia Street.
